Asahi Beverages, a leading beverage company in Australia and New Zealand, is renowned for its extensive portfolio of alcohol and non-alcohol beverages. As part of Asahi Group Holdings, one of Japan’s premier beverage companies, Asahi Holdings Australia includes several successful businesses such as Asahi Lifestyle Beverages, Asahi Beverages New Zealand, and Carlton & United Breweries (CUB). To enhance its project management office’s capabilities, Asahi selected Sensei and the Altus project and portfolio management software to improve visibility, reporting, and value creation across its diverse portfolio. The staged implementation, which began with a single team and expanded organisation-wide, has established solid foundations over three years, aligning both professional and citizen project managers.
The implementation of Altus addressed the complexity of Asahi’s diverse project management processes, providing a standardised framework supported by a single PPM tool. The integration with Microsoft’s Power Platform and the rapid deployment as a SaaS application met Asahi’s needs. Despite challenges, such as the acquisition of Carlton & United Breweries, the collaboration between Sensei and Asahi’s teams resulted in a successful rollout within three months. The ongoing process of embedding Altus and managing change has been crucial, with significant improvements in efficiency, visibility, and governance. Sensei and Altus has enabled Asahi to track various aspects of project management, highlighting successes and areas for improvement, thereby supporting the organisation’s transformation and future business outlook.
